Micro Pulse LiDAR (MPL) is a powerful, sophisticated, yet compact and affordable, laser remote sensing system that provides continuous, unattended monitoring of the profiles and optical properties of clouds and aerosols in the atmosphere. MPL measures the intensity of backscattered light using photon-counting detectors and transforms the signal into atmospheric information in real time. Originally developed at NASA, MPL systems are deployed in the NASA global LiDAR network (MPLNET), the U.S. Department of Energy Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (DOE ARM) program and at many Universities and Meteorological Bureaus around the world.

MiniMPL  takes atmospheric LiDAR technology to a new level of portability, robustnesspower efficiency and cost effectiveness, while maintaining an exceptional signal-to-noise ratioMiniMPL is the first LiDAR on the market that has all of the electronics integrated with the optics in one box. Smaller than a carry-on suitcase and weighing only 13 kilograms, a single operator can easily manage MiniMPL’s installation and operations. MiniMPL, like MPL, transmits laser pulses (eye safe ANSI Class II, IEC 60825) that scatter from particles in the atmosphere. The system then measures the intensity of back-scattered light using photon-counting detectors, and transforms the signal into atmospheric information in real time.
